Our History

There are so many great things to do in and around Great Yarmouth and Norfolk too more generally. We often forget them purely because they are in front of us day in and day out.

If you are reading this and visit or live in Great Yarmouth and have not visited the Burgh Castle, go. It is steeped in history. I cannot do full justice to it here but it is noted in the work of the know almost celebrity status historian: David Starkey. In his book on Monarchy, following the TV series of the same name, he refers to the walls built in and around Norfolk and England (as it was then). He mentions Burgh Castle and the size of it walls, their thickness and robust ness, which is clear today from the fact that it is still there to be seen all of these hundreds of years later.

The day today for me started with a run, but only 40 minutes (i really have got to build back up to the 3 hr run next week. I may even just go for it and do a half marathon next weekend). I will make up for it tomorrow, my new plan is to get up and hour earlier each day and go and do an hour run each day, with Saturday off!
